2013 BET AWARDS RECAP

On Sunday June 30, 2013, the BET Awards aired. The show was hosted by comedian Chris Tucker. Can I just say that this was the second best BET awards ever! All of the performances were very enjoyable and entertaining. Chris Tucker did a great job, though dry at times.

Ok, let’s talk fashion! The fashion at the awards this year was insane! I had so many favorite looks. I have to give best dressed female to Nicki Minaj. I am loving how she has switched up her style and toned down her look. Her hair was perfect. She was wearing Roberto Cavalli on the red carpet. This elegant black gown was amazing. All of her looks throughout the night were worn to perfection.

Best Dressed Male goes to Justin Timberlake. This soulful man can do no wrong. He looked so classy. He was wearing a Tom Ford suit with Christian Louboutin loafers. Kudos JT!

Worst dressed female of the night… R&B singer K.Michelle. I was expecting so much more from her with all her new success! I do believe she will get it right and she ALMOST got a pass, lol! Her look was so boring and it definitely matched her personality…,*wink*
She was wearing Versace.

Worst dressed male goes to no other than Hairweave Killa…3 Chainz, I meant 2 Chains. He takes “different” to the extreme! I would really love to see him tone it down a bit. He was wearing Givenchy.

How cute did all the couples look at the BET Awards?? I did not want to choose a favorite, but since I have to my favorite couple of the night was Ciara and Future. I just love these two together. They definitely compliment one another with their music and style. That all black almost poisoned me through my television. Ciara’s body is sickening!

As I stated earlier, all of the performances were awesome. Chris Brown opened up the show with his exciting dance moves and a new single featuring the late great Aaliyah titled “Don’t Think They Know.” The spectacular Mariah Carey performed “Beautiful (remix)” featuring Young Jeezy and Miguel. R&B King R. Kelly was one of my favorites of the night. Singing a medley of his greatest hits, he had the house rocking! Robin Thicke performed his fun hit single “Blurred Lines” featuring Pharrell and T.I. Other performers included, gospel artist Tamela Mann who blessed the building with her beautiful voice, Kendrick Lamar who brought out the lovely Erykah Badu, 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj who performed with hottie Ciara, J.Cole, Miguel, Jenell Monae, and a hosts of reggae artists for a fun filled Reggae tribute.

The Charlie Wilson tribute stole the show. The tribute included Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, India.Arie, and Justin Timberlake. Charlie Wilson, who won the lifetime achievement award, was recognized for his many decades in the music industry. The soulful singer was well deserving of the award.

Thrifting 101

What’s more intriguing than finding fashionable, unique clothing and jewelry at a low price? Hardly NOTHING! With patience and time, thrifting can be the most enjoyable experience ever.

There is nothing wrong with wearing used clothing. That’s why you have something called a washing machine!:)
The thing that makes thrifting so amazing is you end up looking like YOU and not everyone else. You can do so many different things with the items you find while thrifting. Example; cutting an old pair of pants and making them shorts. You basically have the chance to make the clothing your own.

Below are examples of how you can personalize your thrifted items. The pink shorts were purchased for 2 dollars at a local thrift store. There will be two different ways you can rock this cute thrifted find.

20130416-193837.jpg

The pink shorts are paired with a polka dot bandeau which has a bow on it. The shorts are made to be worn above the waist. Who knew this ugly pair of shorts would be turned into a fab pair of high waisted shorts? The shoes are a black wedge. Accessorize with hoop earrings and a beaded bracelet.

For the second look, the shorts are paired with a simple black tank. Shoes are a leopard strappy sandal. Accessorize with leopard button earrings, black bracelet, and long chain necklace with a splash of pink. Simple but cute. The shorts still being worn as high waisted in this look.

Thrifting can and will be fun. You just have to think outside of the box and get creative. “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.”

My Fashion Inspirations

Over the last two years I have become a huge fan of fashion. I didn’t get to this place on my own. A few people inspired me along the way. I always try to stay up to date with the latest trends and my favorite fashionistas are a huge help!

20121018-102958.jpg

Toya Wright is one of my favorites! She has her own boutique, Garb Boutique. She is so inspirational and I just love how classy she is.

20121018-103619.jpg
Angela Simmons! I can talk about this beautiful fab woman all day! I love her vintage style. She has a sneaker called Pastries, which I also love. Angela has a sick body! She’s definitely my motivation to stay in the gym.

20121018-103829.jpg

Lauren Conrad is the definition of a fashionista. Lauren has a clothing line which you can find at Kohl’s stores. She is really girly and I adore her personality. Lauren is also very versatile.

20121018-104406.jpg
Emily B! Can we say girl crush? Lol! I absolutely adore Emily! She is a celeb stylist. Her style is sickening. She can also pull off any look. Emily is very curvy, but that doesn’t stop her from wearing what she wants. Emily always wears the most bold patterns, which is why I love her. She takes risks!

20121018-104726.jpg

Kourtney Kardashian is hands down my favorite celeb when it comes to fashion! She is really versatile. She can pull off any look. She’s co-owner of Dash and you can also find her and her sisters clothing line in Sears stores!

My reason

So when I first started this whole social networking I was completely turned off! The people on the social networks turned me off! I mean people can be so evil and cold-hearted! A lot of people use social networks for all the wrong reasons! After a while I tuned those people out. I have a real purpose for using these social networks such as twitter and Instagram. Why am I big on social networks? Lately I’ve really gotten into them and that’s because I’m really into fashion and hair now. In the next year or two I want to open up my own boutique. I haven’t shared this with a lot of people, so you guys should feel special that you are the first ones to know this information 😉

Instagram gives me the opportunity to post pictures of my own personal style. You never know who may take a look one day! I follow a ton of celebrity stylists on twitter and I am always tweeting them. Praying one day that they will see how bad I want this and maybe they can give me some advice. They were once where I am. So I am sure they can relate.

In the next couple of weeks I plan on making my Instagram and twitter pages STRICTLY for networking. What I mean is it will be for business only. I will still express my random thoughts but I will definitely make it more on a business level. So thank you all for your continuous support and I hope you stay reading my blogs! 🙂

Fall is here! My must haves for this fall! Part 1

Fall has arrived! I don’t know about you all but this is my favorite time of the year. I am ready to enjoy cool breezes! Hot chocolate, chilli, and lots of trendy styles! What I most enjoy about fall fashion is the freedom to do whatever you want and still look stunning! This is the time to be free and show off your own personal style! My motto for this fall is : BE YOU! Create your own style instead of following what everyone else does! I love turning summer clothing into fall clothing! For example don’t put your favorite summer dress up in storage this fall! Keep that baby out add a pair of fab dark colored leggings under it and wear your favorite knee High boot! Wear a blazer on top and you have instantly turned a summer outfit into a fall outfit! It’s simple plus it saves money! I am also a fan of turtle necks! You can wear a turtle neck under any summer dress and still be cute this fall. I have chosen a few of my own personal must haves for this fall! This is for ladies and the fellas!

~~~crop top!~~~ Ohhh la la! The crop top is a must have ladies! Wear it with your high waist favorite! Jeans, skirt, or shorts! It doesn’t matter what size you are, because the crop top is for everyone! I love it with a high waist long skirt with a High low blazer! Get ready to turn heads in this adorable top
20121001-174008.jpg
~~~wheat timberland boots~~~ ok MEN! These wheat boots have been popular for years! It’s time you grab a pair if you don’t already have them! Knock any lady off her feet when you wear these boots with your favorite boot cut jean!

20121001-174205.jpg

~~~scarves~~~ ladies and fellas! A scarf is a must have! You can dress any outfit up with a scarf! I personally love the longer bigger scarves because I love to knot mine and tuck it in a jacket! You can wear a scarf with any type of outfit!
20121001-174437.jpg
~~~thigh High boots~~~ ladies get ready to turn heads in the sexy thigh high boot! Ohhh so many things you can wear with this boot! I personally can’t wait to wear mine with a pair of leather pants! This is definitely a must have for all ladies!

20121001-174650.jpg

~~~pea coats for men~~~ guys I can’t stress enough how sexy a pea coat is on you! Have the ladies drooling with your pea coat, a nice sweater, jeans, and of course your wheat timberland boots!
20121001-174927.jpg
~~~layers~ This works for males and females! Guys Layer a nice sweater on top of a button down collar shirt and add your favorite tie to it! This is my favorite style for the fall! Ladies layer a fab cardigan on top of a turtle neck and of course add a stylish scarf! Layering is a must this fall!

20121001-175233.jpg

~~~blazers~~~ I get so excited when I hear “blazers.” Blazers are a must have for males and females! So many different things you can do with a blazer! I’m in love with the high-low blazer! High in the back and long in the front! So fab! Wear your chic blazer with some skinny jeans and your thigh high boots and be the center of attention in any room!
20121001-180253.jpg
~~~pointed toe pump~~~ She’s back!! She fell off for a while but she’s back in full force! The pointed toe heel is she! Dress a simple outfit up with the pointed toe heel! Wear this heel with a high waist skirt on top of a footed legging and be sooooo fabulous! Don’t forget to add a blazer to that combo!

20121001-180625.jpg

~~~tights tights and more tights~~~ My second favorite must have! I have to own about 20 pairs of leggings and tights! I will put on a pair of tights under anything! You just have to step outside of the box with this! Wear a pair of printed tights under some high waisted shorts and be a vintage queen this fall! Don’t forget to wear your pointed toe heel with that and of course a blazer on top of a CROP TOP.
20121001-180918.jpg
It’s all about personal style! Don’t worry about what anyone may think of you! Be different and be you! That’s all that matters! Have a fab week my loves! 😉
