On Sunday June 30, 2013, the BET Awards aired. The show was hosted by comedian Chris Tucker. Can I just say that this was the second best BET awards ever! All of the performances were very enjoyable and entertaining. Chris Tucker did a great job, though dry at times.
Ok, let’s talk fashion! The fashion at the awards this year was insane! I had so many favorite looks. I have to give best dressed female to Nicki Minaj. I am loving how she has switched up her style and toned down her look. Her hair was perfect. She was wearing Roberto Cavalli on the red carpet. This elegant black gown was amazing. All of her looks throughout the night were worn to perfection.
Best Dressed Male goes to Justin Timberlake. This soulful man can do no wrong. He looked so classy. He was wearing a Tom Ford suit with Christian Louboutin loafers. Kudos JT!
Worst dressed female of the night… R&B singer K.Michelle. I was expecting so much more from her with all her new success! I do believe she will get it right and she ALMOST got a pass, lol! Her look was so boring and it definitely matched her personality…,*wink*
She was wearing Versace.
Worst dressed male goes to no other than Hairweave Killa…3 Chainz, I meant 2 Chains. He takes “different” to the extreme! I would really love to see him tone it down a bit. He was wearing Givenchy.
How cute did all the couples look at the BET Awards?? I did not want to choose a favorite, but since I have to my favorite couple of the night was Ciara and Future. I just love these two together. They definitely compliment one another with their music and style. That all black almost poisoned me through my television. Ciara’s body is sickening!
As I stated earlier, all of the performances were awesome. Chris Brown opened up the show with his exciting dance moves and a new single featuring the late great Aaliyah titled “Don’t Think They Know.” The spectacular Mariah Carey performed “Beautiful (remix)” featuring Young Jeezy and Miguel. R&B King R. Kelly was one of my favorites of the night. Singing a medley of his greatest hits, he had the house rocking! Robin Thicke performed his fun hit single “Blurred Lines” featuring Pharrell and T.I. Other performers included, gospel artist Tamela Mann who blessed the building with her beautiful voice, Kendrick Lamar who brought out the lovely Erykah Badu, 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj who performed with hottie Ciara, J.Cole, Miguel, Jenell Monae, and a hosts of reggae artists for a fun filled Reggae tribute.
The Charlie Wilson tribute stole the show. The tribute included Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, India.Arie, and Justin Timberlake. Charlie Wilson, who won the lifetime achievement award, was recognized for his many decades in the music industry. The soulful singer was well deserving of the award.
